If you have been living under a rock for the past couple of years, you would know that the Air Jordan 4 is the “It” shoe in 2022 and going into 2023. They have surpassed the previously more popular Air Jordan 5s and even the legendary Air Jordan 3 which many believed is Michael Jordan’s personal favorite. Perhaps the Air Jordan 4 today is as popular as the Air Jordan 1 which would explain why their resale values are so high compared to the other models. However, Nike has implemented the “Space Hippie” effect on the Jordan 1 but not on the Jordan 4 for now, Thankfully, concept artists might have us covered on this. Presenting, the Air Jordan 4 Gym Red Space Hippie.
The Gym Red colorway is a modern icon in today’s world and was made famous by Michael Jordan after he made his way from the University of North Carolina to the Chicago Bulls. Gym Red represents the primary color the Chicago Bulls uses and is a popular option for many as it has been used on multiple Nike silhouettes. However, Nike has also started the Space Hippie lineup which are sneakers made up of recycled materials, giving them a distinct appearance with spotted panels. It appears Nike has taken inspiration from there for their latest concept, this Air Jordan 4 Gym Red Space Hippie.
The design on this is quite interesting, and attractive we have to admit. The toes feature the interesting bit where the backdrop is plain white leather but black dots, reminiscent of crater foam, cover the entire portion. Meanwhile, plain white leather appears on the toe boxes and reaches the side panels and onto the rears of the shoe. The throats appear to feature black mesh netting with grey backgrounds that are wrapped up by black traditional laces.
These laces are hooped through leather eye stays that extend onwards to the collars and feature more black specks. 4 metallic red eyelet panels also cover all 4 corners of the eye stays while leading up to white tongues seemingly constructed with tumbled leather. The borders of the tongues are contrasted with Gym Red while black tags are contrasted by red Jump-Man logos. Red sock liners lead down to red interiors while heel pieces also appear to be black from this angle. Netted panels and more contrasting red triangular pieces cover the sides while red midsoles and black outsoles finish off the design. For similar content and more, stay tuned!
