A Tweaked Infrared- The Air Max 90 Magma Red

If you’re into Air Max 90 concepts, you’re in luck as we have plenty of them coming in this month. Over the past year, artists have treated fans with a plethora of attractive colorways that are partly inspired and part completely unique, resulting in an end design that’s almost every sneakerhead’s dream colorway. Although they don’t always work out too well (at times they’re actually even abysmal) but experimentation with colors truly does pay off, such as with this new Air Max 90 concept. Presenting, the Nike Air Max 90 Magma Red!

The Air Max 90 was a true successor to the Air Max 1 when it was released in 1990. The sneaker was Nike’s flagship in every way of the word as its star power, at the time, was only matched by the revered Air Jordan 1. The Original colorway for the Air Max 90 was the iconic infrared colorway which still sells out every time it releases. Concept artists ever since have continued to drop designs in that sneaker’s image, often playing around with similar colorways and trying to make improvements. With this Air Max 90 Magma Red, they might have actually done so!

The uppers on this sneaker feature a black, grey, and Magma Red color scheme. Jet black leather covers the toes that are separated by dark grey leather mudguards that run all the way to the rears. These mudguards also feature the usual “Air Max” tags in a black shade with a dark grey background. Toe boxes, yet again, opt for a black mesh material that matches the black on the collars of the shoe. Lower eye stays are, yet again, leather, in a dark grey shade while the plastic eyelet panels are also a darker shade of grey, entwined with vibrant Magma Red laces. Black throats lead up to a pair of matching black tongues with blazing red tags, detailed with additional “Nike” branding.

Sock liners wear a matching grey hue, complementing the heel pieces on the rear that are barely visible but just enough to make out. Cropped red leather Swooshes, black midsoles with titular blocks surrounding the Air Unit, and matching red outsoles finish off the design. These kicks are reminiscent of the recent Air Max 90 Infrared that wears grey side Swooshes, red “Air Max” tags, and an infrared hue instead of Magma that you’ll find on this concept.
