The all-mighty Air Force 1 returns in a myriad of new colorways, a trend that’s common with Nike and concept artists alike, especially in 2021! This time, artists take inspiration from an OG color that’s implemented various times on Nike sneakers, and of course, I’m referring to the enshrined “Bred” colorway. A combination of black and University Red which dresses various Nike and Jordan Brand sneakers. Presenting, the Nike Air Force 1 Low Black Gym Red. While not exactly a “Bred” colorway, you can probably see the resemblance.
With so many colorways already flooding the market, it gets more difficult to come up with entirely new colorways which is why concept artists apparently take inspiration from various places. They may even be taking inspiration from different silhouettes’ colorways and try to improve on them, often succeeding as well. This time, artists have created a concept highly reminiscent of the Air Force 1 Low Black University Red. Let’s take a closer look at the Air Force 1 Low Black Gym Red and also make a few comparisons.
Starting with the upper, a matte black leather seemingly covers the entire sneaker apart from some of the overlays. On the Black Varsity Reds, the color tones are similar, however, opts for a grainy leather construction while this concept seemingly features a smooth leather build. Black perforated toe, boxes, side panels, heel overlays, eye stays, and even the throats indulge in the same trendy matte black finish. Black traditional laces cover the throats that lead up to a pair of black tongues with vibrant Gym Red tongue tags. This is also where this concept diverges from the University Reds.
Tongue tags on the Black University Reds feature a black shade with red branding while the Gym Red concept opts for red tongue tags and black “Nike”/’Air Force 1” branding.
Black collar and interiors blend right in while the lateral Side Swooshes provide a stark red contrast from the rest of the predominantly black upper. Midsoles feature a black matching shade with an embossed “Air” logo, customary to most Air Force 1 Lows. Lastly, red outsoles finish off the look while also diverging from the University Reds which featured black outsoles. These sneakers overall feature an attractive combination of both shades and in our opinion, is a worthy addition to the “Bred” concept family! Stick around for more concept art to come!
