From the 1 to the 4! – Air Jordan 4 Black Toe

Potentially one of the most iconic colorways in all of Jordan Brand’s history is the “Chicago,” which consists of a mix of white, black, and red. But another popular colorway that uses the same colors is the black toe, originally used on the Air Jordan 1, but today we will be adding it to the Air Jordan 4. Check out how it went above and read more about our thought process below.

The shoe comes in a split leather upper, with the top piece coming in red and the bottom piece dressed in white. White accents are also used behind the netting, on the laces, the lining, and the tongue, whilst red accents are present on the Jumpman branding on the tongue, the heel tab, and the tongue’s lining. Black detailing is used on the mudguard, tongue tag, netting, and the shoe’s wings and the only detail that strays from these three colors are the shiny silver crown eyelets. Lastly, the sole matches the upper, with hits of white and red on the midsole, and an entirely white outsole, as is standard practice on most of our Air Jordan 4’s.

The Air Jordan 4 and Air Jordan 1 have recently been the two most popular Air Jordan’s in terms of what is in fashion right now, hence why we have in the past brought a colorway from the Air Jordan 1, like the Chicago colorway, and applied it to an Air Jordan 4. Similarly, then, since we were so keen on how the last concepts came out, we have chosen to bring the black toe colorway to the Air Jordan 4. Both colorways use Michael Jordans’ Chicago Bulls as inspiration for the colors, coming in white, black, and red, but where the Black Toe’s differ, is, as the name would suggest, around the toe. The toe box is kept white, and the mudguard is covered in black, as opposed to the Chicago, where the mudguard is red, and the black detailing is kept to the back half of the shoe. The Black Toe, therefore, features a wider spread of the three colors, creating a similar but different look that we wanted to try out on the Air Jordan 4.

Honestly, we think our result looks stunning, but of course, we would say that we made it! Especially the greater use of red on the leather upper though, we think gives the color more room to breathe as opposed to if it was reserved for smaller accents and causes all three main colors to pop out at you when you look at the model.
