The Jordan 4 is back for yet another concept that does not look much like anything we’ve ever seen from the Jordan brand themselves. There have been plenty of blue colorways with minor black hits or vice-versa but none pop as much as this new concept. The only thing they are reminiscent of is previous concept art that too was quite popular with fans. Presenting now, the Air Jordan 4 Dark Crystal which likely derives its name from crystals found in caves that sparkle at the slightest glimmer of light, even whilst surrounded by darkness. As such, these feature a mix of jet-black with bright teal overlays.
The Air Jordan 4 is one of the most special Air Jordans out of the 30+ that have dropped so far. Not only were they popular due to the design but also because they were first released during the NBA All-Star weekend in 1989 when Michael Jordan scored a staggering 28 points. During that game, MJ was rocking a pair of black cement AJ4s that continue to be extremely popular options even today. Apart from being worn by Michael Jordan himself, the Air Jordan 4 was also extremely comfortable which is partly what made them international best sellers. Today, their popularity continues which inspired artists that create concepts such as this Air Jordan 4 Dark Crystal.
Coming straight to the design, it’s clear that these kicks are highly reminiscent of the past concept that we covered known as the Air Jordan 4 Retro Reverse Teal. The difference is that these feature blacker hits around the toe and side regions. Black leather toes extend all the way to the sides and rears of the shoe while toe boxes blend right in and lead up to a pair of vibrant mesh netted paneling with black backgrounds. Black laces cover the throats and are cornered by 4 metallic black eyelet panels. Coming to the tongues, these also feature a black shade but are detailed by teal tags, teal sock-liners, and white Jump-Man logos.
Interiors also indulge in the titular hue while the rears appear to feature black heel tabs that likely don additional embossed Jordan Branding. The side panels also feature bright teal netting that is overlain by titular leather teal triangular pieces. Midsoles, on the other hand, don a similar hue with black pieces while rugged white outsoles with black hits finish off the design. For more content such as this, stay tuned!
