The Air Jordan 4 has been at the forefront of many collaborative projects and partnerships as Nike does tend to have a lot of those. Over the years, the Swoosh has also been partnering up with various sports clubs such as PSG, the Parisian football giant, and has recently signed a deal to supply their equipment. Moreover, Nike also has partnerships within the basketball world, obviously, and has come out various times with LA-themed sneakers. This time, concept artists, likely inspired by similar endeavors, are doing the same. Presenting, the Air Jordan 4 LA Lakers!
The Los Angeles Lakers is an American basketball team that has featured various superstars such as the late Kobe Bryant as well as household names like Shaquille O’ Neal. In order to pay homage to this famous basketball club, Nike has released various sneakers with colorways that match the Lakers’ jerseys. A few notable examples include the Nike Delta Force LA Lakers and the Kobe 5 Protro Undefeated Los Angeles. In fact, recently even the Nike Dunk High received a Lakers makeover! However, we have never seen an Air Jordan 4 with an LA Lakers theme which might have something to do with the sneaker being associated with the Chicago Bulls instead. Thankfully, that has not stopped concept artists.
At first glance, it is evident where the inspiration for this shoe seemingly comes from. The yellow, white, and purple hues unambiguously match the Jerseys of the LA Lakers. Inky purple leather covers the toes and the toe boxes of these shoes and leads onto the mudguards and ends at the rear. Throats are seemingly constructed with black netted panels with inky backgrounds and crisp white laces that cover them. These laces are attached to 4 metallic yellow eyelet panels and hooped through plain purple leather eye stays.
The tongues are built with purple padded leather and bordered by metallic yellow lining while white tags provide contrast and yellow Jump-Man branding complements the rest of the design. Interiors are also seemingly purple that likely leads down to white inserts and additional purple Jordan branding. The rear seems to feature purple heel pieces while netted black side paneling complements the throats.
