As Good As The OGs? -The Air Jordan 4 Reverse Fire Red

One of the most coveted colorway of any Air Jordan sneaker is the OG Fire Red colorway that’s inspired by the colors of the Chicago Bulls, the team Michael Jordan enshrined his career in when he was in the NBA. Although there have been tweaks to the colorway over the years by Jordan Brand themselves, nothing has been quite as experimental as this brand-new concept that seemingly takes the hues from the normal versions and completely redistributes them. Presenting, the Air Jordan 4 Reverse Fire Red! Whether these are fire or not, however, we’ll leave that up to you.

The Air Jordan 4 may not be the best-ever basketball sneaker for performance, it is up there among the most high-quality basketball sneakers. Nike ensured that the materials used and the production process was high quality with no compromises which, for some, justified its high price tag. The “Fire Red” colorway was a 1989 OG release and due to its popularity, re-released in 2006, then in 2012 with minor deviations. The latest 2020 Retro features a design that’s closest to the OGs but this new concept completely changes things up with more dominant use of black.

The upper of the Air Jordan 4 Reverse Fire Red features a 3-toned color scheme with white covering the lower half, black leather above the toes and medial, and red hits scattered throughout. White toes and mudguards appear to feature a grainy leather material with mudguards and toes that extend all the way to the rears. White leather toes almost converge into the white netted mesh panels on the throats with jet black backgrounds. These are wrapped up in vibrant Fire Red laces that go through black leather eye stays and four metallic eyelet panels. Moving up, you’ll find a pair of black leather tongues with fiery tongue tags contrasted by white Jump-Man branding.

These tags are complemented nicely by matching red sock liners and interiors. Although we don’t have an angle on the heel tabs, you could expect plain black heel tabs with perhaps a white Jump-Man logo. Side panels feature a contrasting Fire Red leather triangular piece that is attached to the eyelet panels. Meanwhile, bright red midsoles with a crisp white section surrounding the Air Unit and Fire Red outsoles complete the design. These are reminiscent of the Jordan 4 Fire Reds by uses brighter shades of red and swaps out most of the white hues on the upper for jet black leather. For more similar content, stick around!
