If you thought that was it for more Air Max 90 concepts, think again as the creativity of artists is unmatchable and just when you think they’ve done it all, we’re treated to a bunch more colorways! This past month, the matte black and bold underlay finishes have been massively popular but that seems to be subsiding now in favor of more classic-inspired colorways such as the Infrared and Laser Blues, just like this brand-new addition. Presenting, the Nike Air Max 90 Arctic Wolf! You may be wondering that Arctic Wolfs are all white, but this colorway is likely inspired by Nike’s Wolf Grey color tone with the addition of arctic blue hits thus giving it a fitting moniker.
Before this colorway, we saw the Air Max 90 Tyrian Purple and the Dark Crimson, both of which featured subdued yet regal hues that really separated themselves from anything else that we’ve seen on the actual market and in their case, that’s definitely been a good thing. Prior to those, we also saw the Air Max 90 Ink Blue which donned a colorway reminiscent of the Eminem x Air Max 90 but in our opinion, was better able to pull off the color combinations. However, his trend of bold colored underlays seem to be subsiding a bit, making way for more classic-like colorways such as this new Air Max 90 Arctic Wolf.
Starting from the toes, these sneakers wear jet black leather overlays that extend from the medial to the heels of the shoe. On top of that, the sneaker wears mesh dark Wolf Grey toe boxes are that bordered by matching leather bottom eye stays that get tucked underneath the traditional AM90 plastic eyelet panels. These panels are passed through by common black laces that cover the matching grey throats which blend right in. Moving up, we find grey tongues with matching tongue tags contrasted by Arctic Blue “Nike” and “Air” branding. These sneakers are highly reminiscent of the Air Max 90 Reverse Laser Blue (2020) which flips the colors of the regular OG Laser Blues. The Reverse Laser Blue also wears similar hues but diverges when it comes to the eyelet panels, white mudguards, and the shade of blue that’s used.
Continuing onto the concept, black interiors are separated by grey borders and collars while the lateral sides are contrasted by blue cropped leather Swooshes on either side. A grey “Air Max” badge is stamped onto the mudguards and is barely visible while grey midsoles with an Arctic Blue bordered Air Max Unit and titular blue outsoles complete the design.
