After artists cooked up the recent AM90 Laser Wolf which also donned a similar color scheme, they have seemingly clung to these hues and have presented us with yet another Air Max 90 in a combination of black, dark grey, and a different variation of teal that we’ve seldom seen on this silhouette. Presenting, the Nike Air Max 90 Crystal Rock that features a combination of black and a darker teal.
Before sneaker culture became a thing and sneakers started reselling for multiple times their retail prices, the Air Max 90 was the sneaker for everyone. Although engineered to be a runner’s shoe, these kicks were seen on the feet of everyone and were a staple in most people’s wardrobes in the US. In fact, the Air Max 90 ever since the ‘90s, has been manufactured in all sizes including men’s, women’s, toddlers, and grade school. They even go up to a men’s size 18 which Nike did to ensure that no one missed out on these classics! Today, hotshots like Jay-Z, Kendell Jenner, and many more are spotted wearing these shoes, which is a testament to their evergreen popularity.
Coming to the design, these kicks don a charcoal, black, and teal colorways. The major difference between these and the Laser Wolf is the darker shade of teal that’s being used here. Dark grey leather is featured on the toes of the shoes as well as on the side panels. Meanwhile, a distinguished black leather appears on the mudguards and extends all the way to the rear quarters. The rears feature a typical “Air Max” tag that’s so dark, along with its background, that it is barely visible. Usually, Nike makes it more contrasting to advertise the shoe but there’s no need for that here! Mesh paneling appears on the toe boxes that complement the similarly constructed material around the collars.
Black leather lower eye stays are tucked under the plastic eye stay panels that are intertwined with black laces, enveloping the throats that blend right in. Moving up, we find black tongues with contrasting teal tags and black “Nike Air” branding with a Swoosh. Sides don additional teal leather Swooshes, complementing the tongue tags, as well as the sock liners and the interiors. Teal midsoles with black blocks surrounding the Air Unit provide contrast while matching titular outsoles finish off the design. We must say, the coloring here surpasses anything Nike has done but you may find that the Air Max 90 Reverse Laser Blue is kind of similar. For more concept art, stick around!
