If you thought that was it for the Air Max 90, think again! This timeless silhouette remains a fan favorite for many and we’ll likely continue to see a plethora of new concept art. With Halloween quickly approaching, it appears that concept artists are looking ahead at the forthcoming annual celebration for inspiration. Their latest offering appears to wear dark hues with blood-red hits, reminiscent of what you would find in the wardrobe of the Prince of Darkness, Dracula. Presenting, the dark yet alluring Air Max 90 Dracula.
This silhouette has long been a canvas of Nike for many celebrations, events, and holidays. In 2020, we saw the release of the Air Max 90 Nordic Christmas and in 2015, they release the Air Max 90 Candy Cane. Halloween is also an occasion that is seldom left out by Nike and historically, they’ve had at least two other releases to fit the occasion. The first one being in 2015 and the last in 2020. Recently, concept artists might have adopted a similar approach, or perhaps it’s just our imagination but their latest design, the Air Max 90 Dracula features a fitting moniker judging by the color combinations used.
The uppers of this concept feature dark and gritty hues with jet black leather toes and grey mudguards that extend all the way back, connecting to the heels and only disturbed by a black embossed “Air Max” tag with a blood-red background. Toe boxes feature a mesh-like material that you will likely find on most other models. The grey hues on the toe boxes are separated by black lower eye stays that are tucked under jet-black plastic eyelet panels. Grey throats are covered by black traditional laces that lead up to matching tongues with bright red “Nike Air” branding.
Sock liners and interiors also indulge in a dark black shade and although we don’t have a clear view of the back, the heel tabs also appear to feature a matching grey shade. Collars complement the mesh toes with a matching texture and shade while cropped leather Swooshes provide contrast on the sides. Black midsoles with a contrasting bright red block around the Air Unit and rugged grey outsoles finish off the design. If you’re digging this concept, you’ll probably also like the Air Max 90 Black Radiant Red Wolf Grey which you can find on the secondary markets for discounted prices. For more concepts, stay tuned!
