A Chilling Addition For The Winters! – The Air Max 90 Ice Cave

The Air Max 90 has quite a few interesting colorways and Nike continues to push out new ones every month. Sometimes, they push out multiple new colorways per month and surprisingly, they still seem to sell out. The Air Max 90 is a best-seller for the Swoosh alongside the ever-green Air Force 1 Low. Not all the colorways are great but some really do make it to the sneaker hall of fame and there is a common trend that makes the sneaker reach that fictional place. It’s mostly related to how close to OG the sneaker looks or the simple dual color blocking. This time, however, we have another interesting addition to the list of wild concept art. Presenting, the Air Max 90 Ice Cave!

The Air Max 90 has so many colorways that it is very difficult to keep track of. If you thought about a colorway that’s teal with solid black hits, you would think that Nike has already released one. However, they have not. The closest thing to this concept is the Nike Air Max 90 Laser Blue which adopts more white leather while the Air Max 90 Ultra Photo Blue foregoes all the black hits altogether. This colorway certainly is a special one as the teal and black complement each other perfectly.

Coming to the design of these sneakers, bright teal leather covers the toes that are slipped underneath the mudguards. The mudguards are also constructed with smooth teal leather that extends almost from the toes to the rears. The first sharp contrast appears on the rear quarters with black cutouts. These cutouts should also feature an embossed “Air Max” tag, however, due to the lack of contrast there, it is not visible. The toe boxes, on the other hand, are constructed with matching teal mesh that’s a breathable material which is why Nike usually features it here.

Complementing the toe boxes are similarly constructed collars while sharp contrast is provided by the lower leather eye stays that are tucked underneath black plastic eyelet panels. Throats are also teal and are covered by traditional black laces. Tongues, on the other hand, feature black tags and teal “Nike Air” logos. The sock liners feature more black hits and lead down into matching black interiors. Though we cannot see it, we can also imagine a teal insole with black branding. Black heel pieces, matching cropped leather Swooshes, and black midsoles atop teal outsoles finish off the design. For similar content and more, stay tuned!
