For our latest concept, we decided to create our boldest sneaker yet giving the classic Air Max 90 a clean magenta makeover. Check out our mock-up above, as well as our full breakdown of the shoe below.
The sneaker comes in a leather Magenta upper, with black accents on the Nike tick and the TPU overlays, and white hits on the Air Max branding and the tongue. This is paired with a white sole, but with a magenta TPU overlay around the Nike Air bubble. Lastly, the sneaker has a touch of maroon on the laces and the Nike Branding on the tongue.
Although the sneaker uses 4 different colors, the shoe has a very clean look thanks to how the colors are used across the sneaker. The base of the upper is all magenta, and the white and black accents work together to show the different parts of the sneaker, and its layering. The maroon touches on the tongue are similar enough to the magenta that it doesn’t throw off the look of the sneaker, but instead spices it up a bit, making it slightly more interesting.
In terms of what outfits you could wear with these sneakers, you could really pull off anything. They are stylish enough, and yet sporty enough to match anything from a tracksuit to a trench coat. The black and white details particularly make it easy to wear with other bold colors, or with a simpler black/ white outfit, that would allow your sneakers to do all the talking. If you perhaps wanted to be a bit bolder with your outfit though, you could use complimentary greens or yellows and blues, that would not only look great but would be ideal for a summer look.
However, with magenta dominating the silhouette, 5 years ago this kind of sneaker would have only been released as a women’s exclusive. But recently more and more people have expressed an interest in sneakers outside of their gender category. A perfect example of this was the New Balance Vision Racer Jaden Smith Pink, which was made in both men’s and women’s sizing. People are increasingly wearing what they want to, regardless of what others think they should be, so this is the perfect time to release our concept. With a bold and unapologetic ensemble, the Air Max 90 Magenta would surely be a hit.
