There are many colorways out there for the Air Max 90 that it seems hard to believe the Swoosh would miss a few very decent color options. However, it appears that they have missed many colorway options as concept artists have gotten there first. The black/yellow combo is a color Air Jordan and the Nike Dunks are known for but has not been implemented on the Air Max 90 properly. We have seen one colorway that’s slightly similar but not a full dual color blocking like this concept art. Presenting, The Nike Air Max 90 Midnight Sunflower!
Nike has released a similar colorway in the past with the great Undefeated. The sneakers were released in a pack with multiple colorways, including a version that is black and yellow. However, the yellow is only a stripe across the lateral side as well as around the Air block which looks nice but we definitely would have liked to see more yellow. Concept artists, on the other hand, have dropped quite a few bangers in similar hues such as the Nike Air Max 90 Honey Bee. That colorway had mostly a yellow hue covering the upper with black hits around the toes and side panels. There was also the Air Max 90 Sonic Blue which had similar color blocking but it didn’t quite work so well with the blue background.
Coming to the design of this sneaker, it’s constructed with handsome black leather mostly all around with a few yellow hits for a nice contrast. Jet-black leather covers the toes that are tucked underneath matching black mudguards. The mudguards run all the way to the rears and feature the iconic cutout with a contrasting yellow background and an embossed “Air Max” tag. The toe boxes, as usual, are also seemingly constructed with black mesh, complementing the matching collars of this Air Max 90.
Moving up, we find lower leather eye stays that are slipped underneath plastic eyelet panels. The black throats of this shoe are wrapped up by matching traditional laces that blend right in leading up to a pair of black tongues with popping yellow tags and black “Nike Air” branding. The sock liners also feature the titular Sunflower yellow hues with matching interiors that likely lead down to yellow inserts with additional Nike branding in black text. Black heel pieces on the rear, black midsoles, and contrasting yellow outsoles finish off the design. If interested in more concept art, keep it here!
