It appears that there is no end to Air Max 90 concepts and sometimes, they’re pretty bad fails that should have never seen the light of day. Although we do commend their efforts, some concept art is better left in the archives. This time, however, concept artists thankfully treat us with potentially another home run. This concept features red, white, and black hits that are highly reminiscent of a few popular past releases. Presenting, the Nike Air Max 90 Reverse Recraft Red! They may not be everyone’s cup of tea but they will likely sell out if released by Nike.
Given that it is extremely close to the Infrared colorway that Nike often restocks, this concept is most likely one of the most well-liked. You can guarantee that anything comparable released by the Swoosh will sell out in a matter of minutes. The original “Infrared” colorway of the Air Max III, which is now one of the most popular styles, was created by Tinker Hatfield. Billboards, music videos, and the feet of stars like Rita Ora, John Mayer, LeBron James, and others have all featured that colorway. We believe that this concept, which is comparable to other concepts that are evocative of the Infrared, is an improved version of earlier versions.
Coming to the design, this Air Max 90 concept features a primarily white leather upper. White leather covers the toes and the mudguards that extend all the way to the sides and rears. These feature cutouts with black backgrounds and red “Air Max” embossed tags. The toe box is also white mesh and complements the collars of the shoe. Right above, you’ll find black leather lower eye stay panels while black plastic eye stays to cover the sides.
These eye stays are looped through by red traditional Nike laces that envelope the crisp white throats. These lead up to a pair of white tongues with contrasting red tags and black “Nike Air” branding. Sock liners are also red and lead down to more red interiors, likely with white or red inserts with more branding. The rears, although not visible from this angle, feature a black heel piece, likely with more red or white branding. Meanwhile, cropped black leather Swooshes cover the sides and complement the other hits. Vibrant red midsoles and matching red outsoles finish off the design.
