Concept artists have recently been coming up with various new designs that are seemingly inspired by OG colorways, particularly the Air Force 1 Low University Red which we just covered. They’ve also covered other sneakers such as the Air Jordan 4 that look as if they’ve been inspired by recent retros and behold, we receive yet another colorway that appears to rock the ‘University Red’ color scheme with red and white hues and hints of black. Presenting, the Air Max 90 Reverse University Red.

The OG ‘University Red’ usually features a red and white color scheme with a dominant white shade with hints of red and even fewer hits of black. The Air force 1 concept features an entirely flipped design and changes the color blocking completely.  Artists have noticeably been playing around with OG colorways and few have been done up as well as this Air Max 90 Reverse University Red.

This design starts off with pure black leather toes that branch out onto the side panels and slightly towards the rears as well. Toe boxes feature the usual mesh material, this time done up in a jet-black shade which is slightly lighter or washed-out compared to its leather counterpart. The lower leather eye stays get tucked under the sneaker’s plastic eyelet panels that blend right in with the rest of the black shade and almost engulfs the sneaker. Throats also indulge in the completely black shade and are covered in traditional black laces. Black tongues are then contrasted by white “Nike Air” branding on the otherwise fully blacked-out tongue tags. Contrasting the upper are University Red sock liners and interiors. Although we can’t see the inserts, we can imagine a vibrant red shade with crisp white branding which would be the obvious choice to go for.

We don’t quite have a view of the rear side either but we can see this concept wears black heel tabs likely with red or white embossed “Nike” and “Air” branding. To complement the tongue’s branding, cropped white Swooshes cover the lateral sides while the mudguards don blazing red leather with small embossed “Air Max” tags that are barely visible. Bright red midsoles with exposed Air Units and matching University Red outsoles finish off this concept’s design. If interested, a similar colorway known as the Air Max 90 University Red is available for slightly above retail prices on the secondary market. Although the colorway is decent, we believe that the “Reversed” iteration is in a league of its own. For more concept art, stick around!
