Nike is at the forefront of innovation ever since the release of the revolutionary Nike Air Max 1. Those sneakers changed the game for all manufacturers that had to quickly come up with the answer to Nike’s popular and patented Air Technology. Later on, Adidas came up with the Boost while other companies came up with their own versions but nothing really emulated the Air Unit. Today, Nike continues that trend with environmentally friendly sneakers and with the introduction of “Crater-Foam” which is made out of recycled materials. This time, concept artists implement the unique ‘specked’ outsoles constructed with crater foam into their work. Presenting, the Nike Air Max 90 Royal Carter Foam!
Nike’s “Move To Zero” campaign, as the name suggests, refers to its objective of reaching net zero emissions to help the environment. Sneakers as part of this campaign have their own logo and name and often feature a lot of recycled materials. The biggest jump came in 2020 with Nike’s “Space Hippie” lineup which included sneakers that were made with a majority of recycled materials. Afterward, Nike implemented their Crater Foam technology on a few other sneakers such as the Nike Air Force 1, the famous Air Jordan 1, as well as the Nike Air Max 90. It appears that concept artists have taken inspiration from there for the Air Max 90 Royal Crater Foam.
Coming to the design of these kicks, the uppers feature a Royal Blue and white color scheme constructed with leather and mesh. Clean white leather covers the toes while white mudguards appear on the sides that extend onto the side panels and onto the rears. The mudguards feature white cutouts with white embossed Air Max tags which is customary to all AM 90s. Royal Blue mesh appears on the toe boxes and gives off a futuristic vibe.
Throats also appear to feature a Royal navy hue while wrapped up in crisp white traditional laces that go through plastic white eye stay panels. Extending out from the throats are matching Royal Blue tongues with dark blue tags and white “Nike Air” branding to match. Sock liners and the interiors are white which likely leads down to matching blue inserts with additional white branding. Heel tabs are also white with embossed branding while sides are embellished with Royal Blue Swooshes. Specked Crater Foam white midsoles with blue Air Units along with matching outsoles finish off the design. For more content such as this, stick around!
