After the floral print has been taking over the sneaker concept art world, it appears that paint splatter is the new trending design and they are looking good! Nike has, in the past, released a bunch of similar colorways that were usually referred to as “Tie Dye” which included a very popular Air Jordan 1 colorway. Concept artists, however, are pushing out more paint splatter effects onto their new work such as with this new AM90. Presenting, the Air Max 90 Blue Paintball!
The Air Max 90 has a unique role in contemporary sneaker culture because, unlike many other well-known shoes like Yeezys, the paneling allows for a great deal of customization. Nike purposefully created it that way, allowing them to create a wide variety of colors and maintain the timeless appeal of this design. Restocks and revisions, like the 2021 re-release of the AM90 Infrared, help maintain the buzz, but this year has been different. Due to the dearth of fresh, intriguing hues, popularity seems to be declining, but ideally, artists can change that with ideas like this Air Max 90 Royal Paintball.
Coming to the design, these sneakers feature primarily a Royal Blue, white, and black color scheme with paint splatter effects over the mudguards. The Toes and side panels are black leather and covered in paint splatter effects that include green, yellow, and red hues. Mudguards are also jet black and don similarly colorful paint splatter all over with matching black cutouts and embossed Air Max branding. Toe boxes, on the other hand, are clean white mesh that matches the collars of the shoes in a typical fashion. Moving up, lower eye stays are Royal Blue leather and get tucked underneath the plastic Royal Blue eyelet panels.
The white throats of the shoe are wrapped up by matching Royal Blue traditional laces while moving up, you’ll see a pair of crisp white tongues with Royal Blue tags and Fire Red Nike Air branding. Sock liners and interiors are also dark blue and likely lead down to matching white inserts with additional branding. With a sneaker peak of the rear, we can make out Royal Blue heel pieces that likely also feature embossed branding. Bringing everything together nicely are cropped white leather Swooshes on either side of the sneakers. Blue midsoles with white hits and clean white midsoles finish off the design.
