Few colorways and concepts really stick out when it comes to the Air Max 90 since there are so many in existence. Once in a while, however, there comes a concept that is likely among the best we’ve ever seen and hopefully, inspires Nike into creating a similar masterful colorway. Presenting, the Nike Air Max 90 Shocking Violet that features regal purple/violet hues mixed with Shocking Pink hits and black contrasting pieces. Is this perhaps one of the greatest Air Max colorways we’ve seen yet? Unlikely, but it is one of the best feminine concepts that we’ve seen in a while!
The Air Max lineup has gone through arrays of innovations that weren’t just gimmicks but revolutionary. The first Air Max 1, for example, introduced a disruptive technology that changed the entire running sneaker market. Nike dominated the running sneakers line which is what forced other companies to improve and gradually become better in hopes to emulate the Swoosh. The Air Max lineup, however, transcended sports and entered the realm of fashion as well. Today, it’s the canvas for many concept artists that produce pieces such as this Air Max 90 Shocking Violet.
This concept starts off with a shimmering color scheme that includes Shocking Pink hues mixed with black hits and royal purple overlays. The toes feature titular dark violet leather that converges into the mudguards and the side panels with black stitching bordering each section. Toe boxes, on the other hand, opt for a bright pink mesh material that complements the matching collars of the shoe. Black bottom eye stays are tugged under jet black textured plastic eyelet panels that blend right in with the throats and the traditional laces. Moving up, black tongues with matching tongue tags are contrasted by titular “Nike Air” branding. While we do not have an angle, I suspect similar branding on the inserts of the sneakers as well.
Interiors of the sneakers indulges in a jet-black shade, as do the heel tabs. Cropped black leather Swooshes cover the lateral sides while a small embossed “Air Max” tag is situated underneath with a shocking pink background. Violet midsoles with a bright pink blocked Air Unit and matching pink outsoles finish off the design. While we believe this is done up better than any actual colorway with similar hues, the Air Max 90 leather Racer Pink Black offers a very familiar look. For more concepts, stay tuned!
