Red and black colorways have always been one of the most popular among Nike’s expansive portfolio of sneakers. The Air Max, especially, has been known for its most popular colorway, the “Infrared” which features light red hues with white and grey hits. Bred or “Black and Red” colorways that originally represented the Chicago Bulls are still very popular and usually fetch a decent profit for resellers on the secondary market. Concept artists too do the same and feed off these colorways’ popularity and come up with their own takes on popular iterations. This time, presenting the Nike Air Max 90 Stealthy Gym Red!
There are not a lot of sneakers that are considered actual “Legends” and the great part about that is that this sneaker is still going strong. Some have even dubbed this as one of the most influential sneakers of all time which is why concept artists continue to use them for their art even today. The Air Max 90s were originally meant to be running shoes but recently, that has changed after more performance-focused shoes have emerged in the market. However, the Air Max 90 still survives due to “Hypebeast” and sneaker culture that encourages art such as this Air Max 90 Stealthy Gym Red.
Coming to the design of this attractive new iteration, a black, grey, and Gym Red color scheme covers the mesh and leather construction. Grey leather shows up on the toes of the sneaker and also on the upper parts of the side panels. Mudguards, on the other hand, are jet-black smooth leather that runs all the way to the rears. Although we can barely see it, the rear quarters still feature cutouts with embossed Air Max tags in a matching black shade. Toe boxes remain to be mesh in a black shade as well.
The lower eye stays are also black leather and get tucked underneath black plastic eyelet panels. Throats are also black and are wrapped up in matching black laces that blend right in. Moving up, black tongues are contrasted by grey tags and bright Gym Red “Nike Air” branding. Black sock liners lead down to matching interiors and likely also black inserts; perhaps with Gym Red Nike branding. Heel tabs seem to also be black while contrasting red leather Swooshes appear on the side panels. Grey midsoles and matching outsoles finish off the design. For similar content, stick around!
