A Hero’s Pick? -The Air Max 90 Superman

Just like the Air Jordan 4 that we recently covered, it appears that the superhero makeover has also been performed on the iconic Nike Air Max 90! The Air Max, like the Air Force 1 is a silhouette that has seen a plethora of colorways that range from incredible to horrendous. With so many colorways, custom options, and concept art out for these sneakers, it is no wonder that we have seen pretty much everything. But not quite! We have yet to see the Air Max 90 given a Superhero makeover but thankfully, it appears that concept artists have. Presenting, the Nike Air Max 90 Superman!

The Air Max 90 and Air Max 97 are perhaps the best or one of the most comfortable running shoes we have experienced. The full-length Air cushioning that raises them is among the most comfortable and attractive pieces of technology you’ll ever sport on your feet, and they fit like a glove on top of that. They genuinely give you the sensation that you are walking on a soft cushion and are great for supporting your ankle and heel. But it isn’t the only factor in their current level of appeal. The Air Max 90 offers a lot of customizability, similar to the Air Force 1, which leads to a number of new releases that keep things interesting for aficionados.

Coming to the design of the Air Max 90 Superman, these sneakers feature the aforementioned Kryptonian’s suit’s colors of dark blue and red. Although the contrast is a little more extreme, you get where the resemblance comes from. Uppers feature dark inky blue mudguards and toes with the mudguards extending all the way to the rears, only separated by a cutout near the rear quarters that feature embossed “Air Max” branding but is so dark that it is barely visible unless you know what to look for.

The toe boxes, as usual, are mesh and feature a slightly lighter color tone that also matches the collars of the shoe. Moving up, dark blue leather eye stays are tucked underneath plastic eye stay panels while the matching throats are covered by crisp white traditional laces. Moving up, matching blue tongues are contrasted by Fire Red Nike Air branding. Meanwhile, cropped red side leather Swooshes provide a much-needed additional contrast. White midsoles with blue exposed Air Units and matching white and blue outsoles finish off the design. For similar content and more, stick around!
