A Tweaked Classic- The Air Max 90 White Bred

In some cases, we can be quite surprised regarding how the designers at Nike’s headquarters have not implemented certain color tones together and miss out on creating potential hits. The “Bred” colorway is Nike’s bread and butter yet, unfortunately, we have never seen it implemented properly on the Air Max 90. Thankfully, we have concept artists to fill in that particular gap perhaps one day, inspire the Swoosh to step up their game and drop heat similar to this brand-new concept. Presenting, the Nike Air Max 90 White Bred that uses the iconic “Black/Red” color scheme with white hits.

We got dozens of new concept art over the last two months, the most of which had strongly contrasted color blocking with numerous black hits split by brilliant shades. Although this works well in most situations, it may have become a little monotonous for some. We saw the Air Max 90 Crystal Rock, which was dressed in brilliant Teal and Black, and the appealing Air Max 90 Honey Bee idea before that, both of which have the potential to become classics. This design takes a similar but classic approach by combining the iconic “Bred” colorway with white hits.

Coming to the design of this sneaker, as with most Air Max 90s, this is apparently constructed with a mix of black and red leather and mesh. A jet black shade of leather appears on the toes and mudguards, obscuring any wrinkle or crack in the leather, and extends all the way to the back of the shoe. The mudguards feature black embossed “Air Max” tags with bright contrasting red backgrounds that complement the rest of the red hits. Toe boxes wear a mesh construction and feature a shade of black that differentiates itself from the leather, likely due to the texture. The same shade and texture are also applied to the collars.

The bottom eye stays are red leather, matching the plastic eye stays on the sides of the shoe. Black throats are enveloped by matching black laces and lead up to a pair of black leather tongues with white tags and red “Nike Air” branding. Complementing the tongues are matching sock liners and interiors that don a crisp white shade. Rears aren’t visible from this angle but we can make out red heel tabs that likely feature embossed black branding. Cropped white leather Swooshes on the sides, bright red midsoles, and red outsoles complete this concept’s design. For more content such as this, stay tuned!
