The All-new Nike Air Force 1 ‘Volt Pink’

Nike has always kept themselves close to the communities that follow them so religiously by paying homage to various events, particularly to the pro-am annual game known as the “Drew League”. This time, however, concept artists join the celebration with this brand new Air Force 1 Low Volt Pink concept, just in time before the annual summer-game!
Designed by Bruce Kilgore, the Air Force 1 was initially released in 1982, however, had to be discontinued in 1984. Fortunately, because of the Af1’s fan-favorite design, the shoe returned in 1986 and began its incline towards the lofty status that it holds today.

Over the years, the Air force 1 has been one of the most widely customized sneakers out there because of its elegant, yet minimalistic design. A feature that opens up a lot to work with for concept artists as well, allowing them to use their artistic prowess to the fullest.
This Air Force 1 Low sports a matte black leather upper that we’ve seen recently on multiple concepts such as on the recently revealed AF1 “Dark Rage”.

Artists have been playing around with this base-colour a lot, and for good reason as it allows contrasting colours to appear more vividly. The predominantly matte black finish appears on the perforated toe boxes, scuff-guards, side, and rear panels.

Matte black leather eye stays are entwined with faded-out black laces, a colour that also appears sparingly on the throats, interiors, and tongues.
The latter of which is contrasted by Volt Pink tags with “Air Force 1” texts that sit below the “Drew League” branding in graffiti-like fashion.
The Volt Pink hue also appears on the lateral leather side Swooshes that are stationed right above the additional “Drew League” branding near the quarter panels, done up in elegant black embroidery.

This branding pays tribute to the summer basketball games that were established in 1973 and held every year in Los Angeles in an attempt to support local communities by teaching life lessons through basketball.
Elevating this fitting tribute to the Drew League is a vibrant Volt Pink sole unit with “Air” branding embossed onto the midsoles. Lastly, textured pink outsoles finish off this exciting new design.

Although this concept roughly borrows color tones from the Air Force 1 Low Vivid Pink while being a makeover of the AF1 “Drew League” (2020), there’s nothing quite like it on the market!
