Another blog post, another concept sneaker design. Next up we have yet another, Nike Air Max 90 colourway. Here we take a look at the Nike Air Max 90 ‘Midnight Maroon’ and how it compares to some of the most celebrated colourways of the 90’s silhouette. The Air Max 90, a staple for all things modern-vintage. The sneaker has grown vast popularity all around the globe since its release back in the fall of 1990 and since then, the shoe has been celebrated and showcased due to its marriage with bright and vibrant colours. Colourways such as the Air Max 90 ‘Infrared’ helped to catapult the sneaker into the forefront of global streetwear culture. The Nike Air Max 90 ‘Midnight Maroon’ is our latest mock-up here and we have a reason to believe that it could be our best one yet! Stay tuned as we dive into the sneaker and explain why.
We begin with the upper; As the name would suggest, the sneaker showcases a maroon red base with bright orange accents that flow through the sneaker like hot lava. Fundamentally maroon, the upper arrives with traditional materials – perforated meshing within the toe box, rubber heel and lace tabs and finally, leather side panels. All of which finished in the deep maroon red hue. At the top of the lacing ladder, we find the traditional Air Max 90 branding that boasts the bright orange threading. This is further complimented by a bright orange swoosh that seems as though it can be seen for miles away! The perfect colour combination in the eyes of many, the Nike Air Max ‘Midnight Maroon’ could well and truly be of inspiration to many artistic designers and custom sneaker manufacturers.
The base of the sneaker is simple, yet effective. Although the midsole and outsole arrives in one base colour (maroon red), we can’t help but feel that this is the perfect decision as it helps to showcase the prolific Nike swoosh on the upper. Watch this space, as this may not be the end of the ‘Midnight Maroon’ custom colourway collection…
