The Air Max 90 is shaping up to be the popular choice as a canvas for artists. Showing up various times this month alone with almost as many concepts as the Air Force 1. This latest take features a modern blue hue in an almost denim-like upper. Presenting, the Nike Air Max 90 Spruce!
Inspired by an Italian sports car, it’s no surprise that this classic yet modern design is still a fan favorite. These kicks revolutionized the sneaker game and allowed Nike to enter various markets.
The Air Max 90 is also arguably the sneaker that allowed Nike to enter and capture the Russian market. If you’re familiar with Russian sneaker culture. You’d know the AM90’s predecessors, the 95 and Plus are likely the most popular in the region.
This is largely thanks to the success of the Air Max 90. Ultimately also inspiring concept artists from all over the globe.
Air Max 90 Spruce | A Closer Look
This latest concept takes on hues that’s seldom adopted on the Air Max 90. A modern blue tint with hints of bright teal.
The upper consists predominantly of a grey-ish blue hue or “Spruce”. This shade covers the leather side panels, mudguards, scuff guards, and the rears.
A hue that’s almost reminiscent of the Air Max 90 Cork Blue. A sneaker that features an array of materials including a rarely-seen denim implementation.
The toe boxes, on the other hand, feature a mesh material in an identical color. This material also appears around the collars, as with most other Air Max 90s.
Right above the toe boxes are grey leather bottom eye stays. These eye stays diverge into grey plastic eyelet panels with matching Spruce laces that go through them. This color is also featured on the branded heel tabs.
Laces cover similarly colored throats that lead up to a pair of matching tongues. Slightly darker tongue tags are detailed with even darker “Nike Air” branding. A hue that appears seemingly nowhere else on the shoes.
The only stark contrasting feature on these sneakers is the bright teal lateral Swooshes. These Swooshes are cropped and tucked under the mudguards that feature an embossed blue “Air Max” tag.
Underfoot, the midsoles come in a black shade with exposed Air Max Units. Lastly, black rugged outsoles finish off the design.
