2021 really and truly is teeing up to be the year of the Nike Air Jordan 4. Last year the silhouette had grown immense popularity due to some highly acclaimed releases, some of which with iconic collaborations alongside streetwear heavyweights such as Off-White, PSG and Union. Nike/Jordan brand seem to have no intentions of slowing down this year and we have already seen some confirmed Jordan 4 releases that have generated a lot of excitement within the sneaker community. The likes of the Nike Air Jordan 4 ‘Taupe Haze’ and Nike Jordan 4 ‘University Blue’ have already wetted sneakerheads pallets and now Nike are set to release yet another showstopper, the Nike Jordan 4 ‘White Oreo’. Here we take a closer look.
Highly reminiscent of the Nike Air Jordan 4 ‘White Cement’, a notorious OG colourway, the ‘White Oreo’ offers a similar yet refreshing look on the iconic retro. Similar to the OG, the 2021 release arrives predominately in white and grey, although the black accents seem to have been exchanged for white. We begin with the upper, where the sneaker arrives with white tumbled leather, buttery smooth with gentle wrinkles. The iconic Jordan 4 mesh window and heel tab is intact with white detailing alongside white laces (however we may expect a grey lace option available in box).
Nike brand have experimented once again with the Air Jordan 4 tongue, this time with a crimson red Jumpman embroidered in the centre as opposed to the conventional stitch-on patch. A common debate with the Jordan 4 often occurs with the heel tab too, some prefer the OG ‘Nike Air’ logo whilst others prefer the updated Jordan Jumpman logo. The ‘White Oreo’ arrives with the latter of the two, this time finished with matte grey detailing. The inner ankle lining sees the addition of a soft silk grey type material to further enhance the shoes colour contrast.
Moving on the midsole, the sneaker continues to offer a contrast of grey and white with similar colour blocking to some of the silhouettes most notorious colourways. Speckled grey bumpers surround the midsole and match the lacing tabs on the upper – a signature touch from Jordan brand.
We expect the Nike Air Jordan 4 ‘White Oreo’ to be released on May 29th this year. However, Jordan brand have been postponing many releases so far this year, so don’t be too alarmed to see if this shoe follows suit. With all that being said, the ‘White Oreo’ is a blockbuster shoe by any means and we look forward to it releasing in the imminent future.
