Last time you heard from us, we showcased the all-new Air Max 90 ‘Crimson Slate’, a new, sleek and vibrant custom mock-up of the prestigious 90s silhouette. A vast success by any means, we are back with yet another concept which seriously has the potential to rival its former counterpart. Introducing the all-new Nike Air Max 90 ‘Volt Slate’, the latest addition to the Air Max 90 Slate Pack.
Ultimately, off first glance the sneaker looks highly reminiscent of the Air Max 90 ‘Crimson Slate’. Well as the name would suggest, this new mock-up has switched out the crimson red accents for a new vibrant volt green. Other than that, the details are all relatively the same. After all, if it works, why change it!
The upper arrives true to collection, in an almost all-over gunmetal grey. Similar to the ‘Crimson Slate’, the ‘Volt Slate’ features traditional mesh surrounding the toe-box, rubber lace tabs and leather side panels. Vibrant volt green accents are seriously eye-catching, these can be found on the inner ankle lining, Nike Air tongue and side panel branding, and of course within the unique Nike side swoosh logo. At first glance, the custom pattern design seems to be somewhat of a swirled marble effect, but upon closer examination you can clearly see that the design consists of a bouquet of roses. This creative touch is replicated as you make your way down to the lower part of the sneaker, where the traditional Air Unit panel on the midsole, also incorporates the design – proving to comply with traditional Air Max 90 color blocking.
Seeing as the Nike Air Max 90 ‘Crimson Slate’ sneaker was so well received, we can only imagine that the ‘Volt Slate’ will follow in its footsteps. For now though, we cherish these two creative custom mock-up by Concept Kicks and await to see if more should come from this celebrated Air Max 90 Slate Pack.
