Ice Cool! – Air Jordan 4 Winter Bordeaux

For our latest concept, we wanted to create something that matched current styles and trends, but that also gave a winter vibe, through the use of a darker color palette. So, we have returned to a grey theme once again, this time in tandem with some maroon accents, to bring a new take on a classic Jordan Brand colorway. So, without further ado, we present to you our latest concept, the Air Jordan 4 Bordeaux. Check it out above and read more about the thought process behind it below.

The sneaker’s upper comes in a dark grey leather base, with maroon accents on the tongue’s lining, Jumpman branding on the tongue, the heel tag, and behind the netting. Black detailing is also present on the wings, laces, tongue tag, and lining. The midsole then comes in maroon and grey, and the outsole is grey. Lastly, the crown eyelets are given a silver finish.

Our concept is inspired by the many “Bordeaux” Air Jordans, that tend to feature a combination of maroons, greys, and often black as well. As one of the most well-received colorways Jordan Brand has released, it’s unsurprising that since it was first released on the Air Jordan 6, it has been adapted for the Air Jordan 1, 7, and 12. Well, we wanted to go one step further, updating the idea to fit the Air Jordan 4, a shoe we love to mess around with.

Every year, Jordan Brand releases “Winterized” editions of their most popular models, which usually come in darker colors and with a more insulated upper. However, most Air Jordan models are already built in a way that suits the winter, as their padding which was originally there for performance purposes, is now great for keeping your feet warm during the colder months. The Air Jordan 4 is no different, with its leather build and padded ankle and tongue, hence why we thought the model would be a great fit for a winterized version. And the Bordeaux colorway, although already established as a classic colorway that is not reserved for the winter, uses darker colors which still offers something more interesting than a triple black model, whilst still keeping the shoe matching the darker and colder atmosphere of winter. Moreover, its dark colors would also help hide any scuffs and stains that may come from the more extreme, and less sneaker-friendly weather that comes with winter.
