The Air Max 90 continues to be a staple for most sneakerheads and general admirers. These kicks go with almost anything and due to their versatility, are still as popular as ever. Almost every month, Nike continues to drop multiple iterations of this 90’s icon yet most colorways still end up selling out. At times, even reselling for multiple times its retail price on the secondary market. This time, concept artists bring us another take on a classic colorway that is surely a sight for sore eyes as it’s been some time since Nike dropped a similar pair. Presenting, the Nike Air Max 90 Reverse White University Red!
The Air Max 1 and 90 silhouettes were revolutionary designs as they put Nike’s innovative capabilities on full display. This was done via transparent midsoles with a clear view of Nike’s Air technology. However, the clear midsole wasn’t the only revolution brought forth by the Air Max. In the early ‘90s, the Swoosh acquired rights to the Beatles’ song “Revolution” which paved the way for sneaker commercials to feature hit pop culture music. Now in 2022, the trend continues along with a myriad of new concept art such as this Air Max 90 Reverse White University Red.
This sneaker concept starts off stealthy and sophisticated with hints of flair that seep through in certain regions. White smooth leather appears on the toes and the mudguards of the shoe, extending all the way to the rears. The mudguards on the lateral rear quarters feature grey embossed “Air Max” branding with white plastic backgrounds. Grey mesh appears on the toe boxes, complementing the matching grey mesh collars of the shoe as well as the dark grey cropped leather Swooshes on the sides that are displayed in typical AM90 fashion. The white leather bottom eye stays and plastic grey eyelet panels are intertwined with white laces that lead up to a pair of matching white tongues, detailed with grey tags and black “Nike” branding.
The only vibrant contrast appears on the sock liners and on the interiors which don a blazing red hue. Crisp white midsoles with grey blocked exposed Air Max units and clean white rugged outsoles finish off the design. This concept is highly reminiscent of the regular Air Max 90/1 White University Red that features red mudguards and Swooshes while keeping most other parts of the shoe consistent with this concept.
