It appears that the Air Force 1 is the focal point for concept artists this May as we’ve already seen various other makeovers this past week. This time, however, the Air Force 1 receives a “Volt Blue” contrast that differentiates itself from the rather feminal previous two concepts. Presenting, the Air Force 1 Low Volt Blue!
The AF1 Low silhouette is the perfect canvas for artists to present their artistic prowess on, providing an elegant and clean upper that allows an artist’s imagination to run wild. That’s probably why we’ve seen so many custom and concept AF1s ever since its conception.
Designed in 1982 by Bruce Kilgore, the Air Force 1 has a design like no other. This clean, yet modern design helped it transcend sports and embedded it firmly within the fashion realm. Today, the AF1 is a fashion staple that you’ll find in almost anyone sneakerhead’s wardrobe.
Starting off with the design of this AF1, a matte black finish that appears to be smooth grain leather shrouds most of the upper.
An ideal shade for the concept artists to play around with as it provides the contrasting colors to coruscate and present themselves in the finest way possible. The Air Force 1 Low “Pink Volt” and Air Max 90 “Green Volt” concepts provide excellent examples of how alluring these combinations can be.
This black leather appears on the scuff-guards that sit below perforated toe boxes similar to any other Air Force 1. The black leather eye stays blend right in, surrounding the traditional black laces that envelope the sneaker’s black throats.
As you trace your eyes above the laces, a pair of black tongues sit contrasted by dual-branded tags in a “Volt Blue” color that’s a mix between Aquamarine and Teal detailed by black “Air Force 1” branding.
Furthermore, the interiors also feature a textured black finish that distinguishes itself from the rest of the smooth leather that continues onto the sides and rear panels.
On the lateral sides, Volt Blue Swooshes hold a conspicuous presence on each sneaker. Lastly, Volt Blue midsoles with embossed “Air” branding sitting atop rugged blue outsoles finishes off the design.
We wouldn’t mind seeing this concept implemented eventually but in the meanwhile, check out the Air Force 1 Low 3D (2020) that dons a pretty similar design.
