An Air Jordan 1 High in White, Black and Orange only means one thing, Shattered Backboard. Or does it? News has emerged that an all-new AJ1 is arriving with this notorious colour palette, yet outside of the ‘shattered backboard’ pack. An intriguing concept that has sneaker heads begging the question as to why the sneaker cannot be considered a 4.0? Here we take a closer look.
The new Nike Air Jordan 1 High OG Pro ‘Total Orange’ is due to hit retailers in September 2021. The sneaker at first glance looks appealing. Offering colour blocking that seems to be a reversed take on the ‘black toe’, similar to the ‘chicago’ AJ1. Firstly, sunburst orange makes up the toe box surrounding, swoosh, lacing cage and outsole. Secondly, pearly whites can be found on the inner panelling, inner toe box, laces and ankle collar. Finally, the heel and inner lining are the only places where you can find the jet black addition. The name suggests the sneaker will be an addition to the same pack as the anticipated Air Jordan 5 ‘Total Orange’ – set to release September 2021. Due to the fact that we have only received mock-up images so far for the Air Jordan 1 High OG Pro ‘Total Orange’, it is hard to tell what materials will be issued. Jordan Brand are notorious for switching up the materials on a Jordan 1. We have seen it all, plush leather, suede, nubuck, patent leather, flyknit and more. However with this being said, we expect the shoe to arrive in all-over leather, soft and buttery to the touch. Similar to that of the Air Jordan 1 ‘Shattered Backboard’ 1.0 and 2.0.
Should it have been a Shattered Backboard 4.0?
Hype and street recognition will be present with this release, there’s no doubt about it. The colourway carries a lot of fan-favourites, yet it will be interesting to see if the name of the shoe will play a pivotal part of the demand. With all this being said, it will be interesting to see what else Jordan Brand has in store for the ‘Total Orange’ Pack.
